Top Ten Movies

Alan and I enjoy many of the same types of movies. I'm actually a HUGE wimp when it comes to scary movies and even a lot of dramas, so Alan is sweet to watch the types of movies I like with me. However, out of all the movies we watch, there are several that are definitely "my" type, and some that are definitely "his" type. (I still don't get what is so funny about the movie "The Man Who Knew Too Little.") Here is my top ten movie list, in order:

1. The Parent Trap (Hayley Mills version)
2. Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea (yes, I'm going to cheat and group these together)
3. Pride and Prejudice (A&E) and Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley version) (more cheating going on, I know)
4. While You Were Sleeping
5. Little Women (Winona Ryder version)
6. Return to Me
7. Sleepless in Seattle
8. Beauty and the Beast
9. The Music Man (I don't even own this one! I just borrow it frequently from my mom.)
10. Meet Me in St. Louis

I definitely notice a trend in this list. However, I can watch these over and over again and not get sick of them! Alan's top ten list would probably include anything starring Bill Murray.

What are your favorite movies?

Some of those are definitely on in my Top 10! Right now my sister, Holli, and I are on this kick where we try and find other versions of Pride and Prejudice and other Austen movies to watch (usually from the library.) Our husbands laugh at us and we ask why. Then they explain it by saying, "Oh it's so exciting! I just got the extended version of Star Battle Galacta III and I can't wait to watch it!" Okay, so our top ten are definitely different from theirs, too!

I think we should get together and watch The Parent Trap, just like old times! I love that movie. I can make Kevin watch too (I'm sure he's never seen it).

I don't have an organized list, but here are a few:

Pride and Prejudice (BBC/A&E)
Sense and Sensibility (BBC)
As Good as it Gets
Nightmare Before Christmas
Finding Nemo
Persuasion (BBC)
Scarlet Pimpernel
Henry V(Kenneth Branaugh)

Movies I loved when I was younger, and they're still great:

Anne of Green Gables
Little Women
Mary Poppins
Sound of Music
Ghostbusters
Clue
Beauty and the Beast
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder)

I saw my wife's post and I have to defend myself! It is pronounced Battlestar Galactica; however I'm not such a huge fan; Starwars ...definately! With regards to the Jane Austen films...well lets just say we have named their movie watching club "The sisterhood of the ya-ya traveling pants austinites"

Jenny, you're a sweetheart, but ya gotta get some variety in your movies!! Brian and I are pretty much the same in our movie choices. Although I enjoy the occasional drama (I just watched the Wynona Rider Little Women and enjoyed it), we are mainly a Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter. . .you get the idea. . .movie watching family. And yes, we like most movies with Bill Murray. I mean, c'mon! What's not funny about popping off all the orange cones with a mini?
