A couple weeks ago Jared got his first earache--then a cold on top of that. Then I got the same cold. Only mine has lasted two weeks and still isn't completely gone. I just wish that my dang nose would clear up so that I can breathe through it rather than my mouth when I sleep. Enough said.
In addition, Jared abruptly stopped taking his morning nap a week and a half ago. Suddenly. The End. And his afternoon nap (now, his only nap) hasn't increased in length! Needless to say, I am feeling the effects of having less time to myself. Not to mention that Jared has been so needy lately for his mommy (I am such a wonderful person--can you blame him?) He has lost interest in ALL his toys. He will only be happy playing with "grown-up" toys like the stereo, radio alarm clock (he can even easily change the time!), cell phone, VCR and DVD player, etc., or he will be happy emptying all my dresser drawers, or he will be happy if he has Mommy's undivided attention. I am feeling frustrated that he can't play a little bit better by himself (at least with things he is allowed to play with), and I feel like I go crazy if I don't do anything else all day long besides singing, reading stories, and playing ring-around-the-rosy. Any advice about how to keep my little guy more busy?
I am not meaning to complain. I love Jared dearly, but I am just trying to keep my sanity!

when ash was in that stage, we let him play with old phones and remotes. It didn't keep him much from the ones that are in use, but he enjoyed them for a bit. I don't recall that phase lasting too long. He still likes to play with what we have, whether it is his toy, or something he shouldn't play with.
It's hard moving from two naps to one. Try moving it earlier and he may sleep longer. You never know. In the meantime, you'll have to adjust your expectations of what you can get accomplished. As for the playing issue - take him outside as often as possible. Maybe a push bike should be on the Christmas list. At least then he could be out and you could get some exercise too? Good luck with that one.
Kids, once figure out how to deal a stage they change! Good luck!
It sounds like a change of scenery in toys might help, or if you're really desperate to accomplish a chore, you can try some baby Einstein movies, they kept my girls busy for 20 min or so. I have a VHS if you want to borrow it, or the library has a ton of videos like that. You can also borrow some of our toys-- I have a broken phone...an old VCR and DVD player :)
Sorry Jen. I honestly don't remember, that was too many kids ago. Now they help entertain each other. That's my little advice, have another! Ha ha, that will definitely give you more time!
